Bet Nahrain Art Show to Raise Money Benefitting Nineveh

By Cal Abbo

One couple is on a mission to rebuild Nineveh.

Chris and Ranna Salem have started the charity Nineveh Rising to restore Nineveh “one brick at a time,” according to the website. “After centuries of destruction and religious persecution, Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs are uniting again in 2022.”

The art show, hosted by the Chaldean Community Foundation, is free to the public. Donations will benefit the new charity, which has already taken some action in the homeland.

Its first project is called the Ashurbanipal Library and Technology Center, located in Alqosh. It will serve the local Chaldean community as a place to gain knowledge as well as modern technological skills. The charity is working on developing other projects that are focused on language preservation and expanding tourism in the area.

The art show, which is called “the land between two rivers” when translated, will feature several artists of different styles and mediums including Reni Stephan, Wilson Sarkis, Azhr Matti, Sabah Wazi, Sabah Dawood, and Mark Georgies.

The show will last three days, from October 28-30. Each day, the show is open to the public from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests will be able to purchase art or make a donation and enjoy complimentary wine.
