Jingle Bell Run: Join the Arthritis Foundation for the 2018 Detroit Jingle Bell Run on Saturday, December 1 at 9:00 a.m. at the Corner Ballpark in Detroit. “Grab your reindeer antlers, tie jingle bells to your running shoes, hit the pavement, and be part of the nation’s largest holiday race series aimed to fight arthritis. Whether you prefer to walk or run, wear your ugly Christmas sweater, or don the craziest holiday costume, this 5K/10K through Corktown and the riverfront is sure to spread smiles, holiday cheer, and winning spirits.” The Snowman Shuffle Kid’s Run will be taking place on the baseball field. The Society Ball: Join the Detroit Historical Society for a “free-wheeling, black-tie extravaganza that will draw upon Detroit’s rich and relatively unknown cycling history to celebrate a landmark year in which the Detroit Historical Society won all three of the nation’s most prestigious awards for museums.” The Detroit Historical Society’s Ball is the biggest source of annual funding for the society’s educational initiatives. This year’s celebration will und expansion of its award-winning programming to serve high school students, help design new curriculum materials, and develop intergenerational programming for the Discovery Room in The Streets of Old Detroit. Winter Gala: The Italian American Bar Association of Michigan is hosting their 87th Annual Winter Gala at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. This gala will benefit the Friends of Foster Kids charity. “Founded in 1931 as the Italian Lawyers Club of Michigan, today the IABAM remains one of the oldest and largest ethnic bar associations in the country. The IABAM is honored to have an active roster of over 200 attorneys and judicial members, including one Michigan Supreme Court justice. Holiday Schmooze: The ACS Foundation, alongside their corporate sponsor Acclaimed Home Care, will be kicking off the holiday season with its annual Holiday Schmooze and 10th Anniversary Black and White Ball at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham on Monday at 6:00 p.m. The evening will include a first-class strolling dinner, open bar, and dancing to the music of the Killer Flamingos. Lori Herbert of the Anthony Herbert Foundation will be presented 2018’s Catalina Andres Humanitarian Award. This event will benefit the Twin Hearts Medical and Surgical Mission in the Philippines. This mission will bring medical supplies and care, provide surgeries, and assist with emotional trauma, therapy, health education to the people in Cordoba.
