Banquet: The Spirit of Manresa Banquet will be hosted at Shenandoah Country Club located in West Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3. The evening’s keynote speaker will be Chris Lowney, best-selling author of seven books, including Pope Francis: Why He Leads the Way He Leads. Gala: Haven’s Blossom Gala will be hosted at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market on Thursday, May 3. The gala,“will celebrate the season and the new beginnings it represents, particularly for survivors of domestic and sexual violence served by the Oakland County non-profit.” The evening will include dinner, themed cocktail bars, a dessert bar, performances from the Detroit Women’s Chorus and members of the Detroit Circus, a floral photo wall, silent and live auctions, a raffle and so much more. Workshop: The Henry Ford Health System and Metro Parent are teaming up to present the 11th Annual Living with Autism Event. Spring Fest: Join Walsh College on Friday, May 4 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. for Spring Fest at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market Tickets are priced $100 and includes the following, craft beer tasting from local brewers, wine tasting, food trucks, valet parking, a fun zone with games, and more. Charity: The Metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan Chapter of JDRF are hosting the 33rd Annual JDRF Promise Ball on Friday, May 4, at MGM Grand Detroit. This year’s theme is “One Roaring Night”. The Promise Ball raises funds for JDRF’s mission to create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). This year’s honorees will be Bill and Vivienne Young. The evening will feature a wine raffle, live entertainment, dinner, a live auction, and an after-party. Reservations start at $300 per person or $2,900 for a table of 10. Charity: The BCAN Walk to End Bladder Cancer will be hosted at Catalpa Oaks County Park in Southfield on Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The walk is a national grassroots fundraising and awareness initiative that helps support the BCAN mission: “to increase public awareness about bladder cancer, advance bladder cancer research, and provide educational and support services for the bladder cancer community.” Tickets are priced at $25 for adults and $5 for children. Charity: Detroit Cristo Rey High School invites all to attend their 10th annual Gems of Detroit at Shed 3 in the historic Eastern Market on Friday, May 11, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. The event will raise money for Detroit Cristo Rey High School. Tickets are priced at $150. Charity: Treat your mother to breakfast for Mother’s Day and contribute to a great cause! Supported by West Bloomfield Parks and West Bloomfield School, the third annual Charity Cakes event will be taking place Saturday, May 12 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. The event will be hosted at Orchard Lake Middle School. In addition to breakfast, activities for the children will be provided free of charge. Event proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of West Bloomfield of Michigan, West Bloomfield Youth Assistance, and the Greater West Bloomfield Community Coalition.
