Chaldean Chamber Participates in Distribution of Meals

The City of Oak Park partnered with first responders, the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, and Forgotten Harvest to distribute full Thanksgiving meals to more than 250 local households facing increasing food insecurity. Long lines of cars formed early as residents—including seniors, people on disability, and those sharing food with neighbors and churches—waited for turkeys and other holiday staples amid rising demand caused by lapsed SNAP benefits and financial strain on federal workers. Volunteers from multiple police and fire departments assisted in the effort, while community donors helped triple the number of turkeys available. Organizers emphasized easing families’ financial burdens and ensuring no one has to choose between holiday meals and essential expenses.
