Iraqi Soccer Club
A group of Chaldean immigrants who arrived in Michigan in the late 1960s from Iraq founded the Iraqi Soccer Club (ISC) in 1970. The founding members included Nadhir Zoma, Majid (Mike) Koza, Mike Robin, Fawzi Noocha, Emad Kassawa, and Raad Dawood.
The club joined the Detroit Soccer League and captured the league championship in its very first season.
During the 1970s, ISC’s home field was located on 8 Mile Road, just east of Dequindre Road in Detroit. In the early 1990s, the City of Southfield constructed the Pebble Creek Professional Soccer Field, which became the club’s new home ground.
Since its founding, the Iraqi Soccer Club has won more than 20 championships. In 2001, Coach Waad Sana was named National Coach of the Year, alongside team manager Raad Sana.
