Lamar Kashat and Jassin Hakim Advance in Sterling Heights Police Department

Lamar Kashat was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at the Sterling Heights Police Department on May 28, 2026, becoming the first Chaldean Lieutenant in the department’s history since its founding in 1966. His promotion marks a milestone within a department that currently includes approximately 7.5 Chaldean officers, including one officer of mixed Chaldean and Filipino heritage. Kashat’s advancement also highlights a broader moment of recognition alongside fellow officer Jassin Hakim, who was promoted to Lieutenant on June 18. Hakim holds a notable place in department history as the first Chaldean officer hired more than 25 years ago and the first to be promoted to Sergeant seven years ago, further underscoring the steady progression of leadership through the ranks within the Sterling Heights Police Department.
