Iraqi Prime Minister Welcomes Michigan Chaldean Delegation
Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received a number of representatives of the Iraqi community and Iraqi businessmen from the state of Michigan at his residence in Washington, D.C. The Michigan delegation was led by directors from the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce and Chaldean Community Foundation.
During the meeting, they discussed the situation of the Iraqi community and prospects for increasing their participation in development and investment in Iraq, as well as opportunities for Iraqis abroad to contribute to diversifying the Iraqi economy.
The Prime Minister also welcomed the return of Iraqi Christian families to their ancestral homeland and their participation in the reconstruction of the Nineveh Plains. He further encouraged the opening of branches of American banks in Iraq, emphasizing the government's commitment to protecting the historical presence of the fundamental components that enrich Iraq's diverse and harmonious society.
His Excellency stressed that the government views the cultural diversity and spectrum of Iraqis as an Iraqi human asset, whether at home or abroad. He called on Iraqi businessmen in general—and Christians in particular— in the United States to invest in promising fields such as education, health, and the oil products sector. The Prime Minister confirmed the government’s plans to significantly increase oil production within three years.
Representatives of the Iraqi community expressed their readiness to enter the Iraqi market and establish partnerships between American companies and the Iraqi public and private sectors, in support of the diversification of the Iraqi economy and to foster cooperation across all economic fields.
