As winter slowly edges toward spring, we begin our celebration of women growing and thriving in our community. For March, we kick off a series profiling women who are breaking barriers and setting new standards. Our focus this month is attorney/mom/blogger Krystal Hermiz, who uses a deft blend of canny planning, focus on family and teamwork with her husband, Jeffery, to enjoy a thriving career and rewarding family life.

Look for profiles of more Chaldean women making waves in our community in coming months.

We also witnessed a renewal of Chaldean activism as community leaders and legislators piqued President Trump’s interest in providing relief for Iraqi immigrants slated for detention or deportation. The president mentioned the situation and publicly vowed to help in a Warren speech Jan. 30.

Cold and flu season is on its way out, but the stubborn Corona Virus continues to seep across continents to the consternation of everyone. Dr. Neil Jaddou weighs in this month with clear information and sound advice about this scourge—including tips on protecting yourself.

While we keep on the lookout for signs of Corona Virus, we celebrate Circuit Court Judicial Candidate Clarence Dass’ successful battle with cancer.

In keeping with our anticipation of warmer weather, Lisa Cipriano provides sage advice about staying safe in the water and learning to swim—for fun and safety—in her article that features swim training company Aqua-Tots.

Father John Jaddou gives us perspective this month on the death of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who, along with his late daughter Gianna Bryant, attended church the morning of their tragic helicopter crash.
