Chaldean Football League

The 45th Annual Chaldean Football League (CFL) Championship took place at Wylie E. Groves High School in Birmingham, MI, on Friday, October 9, 2026. The final game, known as the Chy Cup, came down to the Black team, led by Captain Dominic Kejbou, versus the Green team, led by Captain Lance Samona. Team Black was victorious, winning 24-13. The CFL started in 1981, when the Sarafa and Jonna cousins took their grandma Margaret Sarafa’s old tea kettle and turned it into a cheeky trophy for their last pickup game that fall. After that, others joined them, and they formed a league that not only offered young Chaldean men a chance to play football but also fellowship, and it has been going strong ever since.
