Another Successful Stride for Seminarians

The 13th annual Stride for Seminarians brought nearly 900 people to the Detroit Zoo on Sunday, September 20, 2026 despite a rainy and overcast morning. Rain or shine, the community showed up in support of Chaldean seminarians and the future of the Church.

This year’s event was especially emotional as the Mansour family honored the memory of John Mansour, who passed away just days after last year’s walk. John poured his heart into Stride for Seminarians each year, viewing the event not simply as a walk, but as a way to honor his children, Alexander and Gabrielle, while supporting seminarians and priestly vocations.

The day culminated with Mass celebrated by Bishop Francis Kalabat, joined by priests, seminarians and the faithful. Following Mass, John’s daughter, Adriana Mansour, reflected on her father’s legacy and the family’s promise to continue the event. Her uncle, Steven Mansour, then spoke about carrying John’s mission forward, reminding those gathered that supporting seminarians is an investment in the future of the Church.

This year’s Stride was made possible with the help of more than 90 volunteers and 59 sponsors—a strong showing of support for the Mansour family, Chaldean seminarians and a tradition that continues to grow.
