Carl Matthew Hakim

Carl Matthew Hakim, “Chef Carl,” born on March 3, 1960, passed to the fullness of life on September 17, 2026, surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Azucena for 37 years; devoted father of Carly (Randy) Babi and Caitlyn Hakim; proud grandfather of Charlotte. Beloved son of the late Karim and Norma (Dalaly) Hakim; cherished son-in-law of Dr. Ulises and Azucena Casab; dear brother of the late George (Faiza) Hakim, Joanne (late Alex) Thomas, Patricia (Thomas) McCracken, Dale (Doug) Waldon, Karen [(late Ronald) (David McDonald)] Jalaba, Lorie (Danny) Harwood, and Mark Hakim. Carl was born and raised in Detroit. He was the heart of every town he cooked in, most notably at the Market Basket of Franklin, where he fed generations of families and turned customers into friends. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
