One Suspect Arrested in Fatal Sterling Heights Shooting; Second Suspect Wanted

A 41-year-old Warren man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Randy K. Abro, 41, of Utica, according to the Sterling Heights Police Department. The shooting occurred Oct. 7 in a commercially zoned area in the 6200 block of Millett Avenue. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting possible gunshots and found Abro suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives identified two suspects and obtained arrest warrants in connection with the homicide. Kenneth Morgan, 41, of Warren, was taken into custody early Friday morning by the Sterling Heights Police Department’s Special Response Team, with assistance from the Warren Police Department SWAT Team, the FBI’s Macomb County Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Morgan was arraigned and given a $2 million bond, cash surety only.

Police are asking for the public’s help locating the second suspect, Jerome Charles Eursher, who remains at large. Authorities warn that Eursher should be considered armed and dangerous and urge the public not to approach or attempt to confront him. He has ties to the Cleveland, Ohio, and Detroit areas. Police also clarified that reports claiming Eursher is in custody are inaccurate.

Anyone who sees Eursher or has information about his whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately. Anyone with additional information about the investigation can contact the Sterling Heights Police Department Detective Bureau at (586) 446-2825 or the department’s main line at (586) 446-2801.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police said automated license plate reader technology played a supporting role in the investigation but noted that no single investigative tool was solely responsible for identifying the suspects or obtaining arrest warrants.
