Casey Askar: A Congressional Challenge

Casey Askar

Chaldean Businessman Casey Askar Defeated in Traditionally Republican Florida District

Chaldean businessman and Naples-based entrepreneur Casey Askar lost his bid for Florida’s 22nd Congressional District to Democrat Pia Dandiya, who received 56.5% of the vote with 96% of precincts reporting. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and chairman and CEO of the Askar Family Office, Askar ran in a traditionally Republican-leaning district that supported Donald Trump by 11 percentage points in 2024.

However, the newly redrawn district created a more competitive open-seat race, with no incumbent running. Askar campaigned on a conservative platform focused on lowering taxes and regulations, reducing government spending, strengthening border security, and expanding domestic energy production. He also called for repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act while preserving Medicare and Medicaid. Despite the district's Republican-leaning history, Dandiya secured the victory, underscoring the challenges of the newly configured district.
