The gift of love

As a community rooted in faith and family, we are surrounded by an immeasurable amount of love. In a special column for our religion section, Fr. John Jaddou discusses love, especially as it relates to our youth.

Fr. John writes that our youth may not always make the best decisions, but we must continue to build them up by providing them with the necessary support to succeed. Love can be shown in many different ways, especially around the holidays.

It is during this season that time seems to pick up speed; it seems like we’re finishing off a turkey leg while racing to the mall for an unbelievable deal that will never be available again. While the holiday season is busy with gatherings and gifts, it provides ample reminders of the many blessings in our lives and that others are also in need. While the Nintendo Switch may be more expensive (or less) a week later, time with friends and family can never be regained.

The holidays are also a hard reminder that time is not guaranteed, as many of us celebrate with loved ones that are in Heaven. It is the family we surround ourselves with that is the true blessing of the holidays. Yes, buy the gifts but remember that such gifts are only meaningful because of the love that comes with it.

Finding the perfect gift can sometimes be a struggle. Hopefully, contributing writer Danielle Alexander’s gift guide will help. Focusing less on the material aspect of gifts, Alexander compiled a gift guide of items that will keep the kids occupied and learning as each gift serves an educational purpose.

Writer Bianca Kasawdish also caught up with a few Chaldean owned businesses including: BeneFIT Box, Gentleman’s Box, Christina’s Consignments, Kracked Kreations, and Chloe’s Treasures, to put together a gift guide.

From fashion and fitness to food and faith, these businesses offer products that can be customized to create the perfect gift for each person on your list.  While these gifts are certainly something to look forward to, they are not the only thing for us to look forward to during the holiday season.
